Last summer, Tom and his sister Lily went on a safari in Kenya. It was their first time in Africa, and they felt very excited. On their second day, they woke up very early, while it was still a little dark. Birds were singing around the camp, and the air was cool and fresh. After a quick breakfast, they met the other tourists and climbed into a big green jeep.
Their guide, Mr. Kamau, welcomed everyone with a friendly smile. “Good morning, everyone! Today we will explore the savannah. You will see many amazing animals. But please remember two important rules: stay inside the jeep, and do not feed any animals. Is that clear?”
“Yes!” the group answered.
As the sun began to rise, the jeep started to move. Soon, they saw a family of elephants walking slowly across the road. Mr. Kamau explained that elephants live in groups called herds and that the leader is a matriarch.
Later, the jeep stopped near a small river. The group saw hippos resting in the water with only their eyes and ears above the surface, while a crocodile lay nearby.
They continued driving across the savannah. The grass was golden, the sky bright blue, and in the distance they saw giraffes eating and zebras running with their black and white stripes.
When the guide started talking to the driver, Lily grew curious. She opened her backpack quietly and took out a small piece of bread. Tom giggled and opened the window a little. Lily threw the bread outside.
Suddenly, many zebras came running. Soon, they surrounded the jeep and started licking the windows. One zebra even licked Tom’s arm. Tom and Lily felt ashamed when the guide turned around.
Later, the jeep stopped under a tree where a lion rested in the shade. Its golden mane moved softly in the wind. The lion looked powerful and peaceful at the same time.
At the end of the day, everyone returned to the camp. They laughed about the “zebra attack” and talked about the beautiful African landscape. Tom and Lily knew they would never forget their safari adventure.
